Focus Question: Why are oysters important to the Chesapeake Bay and what can be done to help them?
Students will focus on the following questions during our unit on oysters:
- How are oysters beneficial to Maryland?
- What is the relationship between organisms in a food chain?
- What interactions take place in the oyster reef community?
- What characteristics of the bay explain the variety of life found there?
- How can people affect the oyster population?
- How can people help to improve the oyster population?
- Could the conditions at Fishing Creek in Chesapeake Beach make an ideal site for oyster bed restoration?
- How can people make a difference for oysters?

In science students will complete investigations that address the question, "How do human actions impact the environment, especially the Chesapeake Bay."
